Permaculture Eudlo markets

Last night's meeting went very well.

Our markets have come into their own - people bought along a whole range of goodies to sell and there were plenty of give aways too.

Left - potted up permaculture plants for sale - Vetiver grass, comfrey, ginger and curry leaf tree.

On the give aways table there were Lemonade fruits, lemons, glass bottles, star fruits, and bags of curry leaves - below right.

Our planned DVD didn't work out due to 'technical' problems - instead we voted to watch Geoff Lawton's Introduction to Permaculture Design DVD.

We watched the first half and we'll screen the second half at the July meeting.

The DVD features many Sunshine Coast permaculture properties, so it was nice and local.

There was also local raw honey for sale, homemade soaps, locally made beeswax polish and Isabell Shipard's famous Herb Book.

Other freebies included huge clumps of healthy Galangal, Cassava cuttings, and turmeric.

There was even Yakon to try. Plenty of people left with bags filled with freebies and new plants for their garden.

And we're hoping our next meeting in July will bring even more goodies from members gardens for the market stalls.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday July 5th - markets start at 7pm and the presentation will start at 7.30pm. We meet in the Eudlo Village Hall on Rosebed Street, Eudlo.

  1. Hi everyone
I've got a question about the May meeting. Can anyone remember what was said about putting weeds into a bin of water? I think the idea was (a) to kill them for good, and at the same time (b) brew a liquid compost. I'm gradually clearing a steep bank on the edge of our place, replacing creepy creepers with pumpkin and sweet potato. I want to make use of the weeds somehow, hence my question.
    Thanks,
    Alison

  2. Hi Alison, it was putting weeds in a barrel (preferably black), filling it with water and leaving it in the sun to drown and solarise the weeds and in particular seeds. When its all cooked up into a slushy mess (biggest draw back at the moment is the lack of sun!) we pour ours on the compost. Hope that helps, Sonya
